During the event, Code.org CEO, Hadi Partovi, will address attendees to share the nonprofit’s mission of expanding access to Computer Science (CS) in schools and increase participation by women and underrepresented minorities.
Additionally, as part of the collaboration, the Litecoin Foundation will provide an opportunity for attendees and the general public to support this mission. Starting today, individuals can donate to Code.org by using the special QR code on the Litecoin Summit website. To date, Code.org has partnered with more than 180 of the largest school districts in the United States to add CS to the curriculum, prepared more than 100,000 new teachers to teach CS across grades K-12. 46% of Code.org students are girls, 48% are underrepresented minorities, and 47% of Code.org’s US students are in high needs schools.“We are excited to have Code.org join the Litecoin Summit and share their mission with the Litecoin community,” said Charlie Lee, Creator of Litecoin and Managing Director of the Litecoin Foundation. “Computer science is the underpinning of cryptocurrency, and without it, the ability for the technology to bring financial access to the traditionally unbanked would not be possible. Beyond that, computer science provides an enormous amount of opportunity for children to develop new skills and cultivate a passion for something that has a tremendous impact on our everyday lives.”“We’re grateful for the support from Litecoin and the cryptocurrency community,” said Hadi Partovi, founder and CEO of Code.org. “Computer science education is essential for students not only to navigate today’s increasingly technology-driven world, but also to spark the kind of creativity and innovation that gave rise to cryptocurrency.”About Code.orgCode.org is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by women and underrepresented minorities.
